Took a few quick pics , will return in a few days to lay out some backgrounds and then use these on a web site that specializes in selling Grand Pianos especially older ones. Any C&C and advice for the up coming photos would be appreciated. I did shoot the pedals and the details in the legs too.

Good ones! My piano doesn't even come close to how these looks like...but wait! mine is digital...so it won't look this good. The one downstairs in our dining room isn't but it needs tuning. Looking forward to next shots.

I think you have some real opportunities here to play with a camera. Have you seen the photography of the guy that took shots of the inside of a guitar and violin? The photographer used interesting lighting and made the shots look as if the inside of the instruments were room size.

I think you have some opportunities for some interesting detail shots from unexplored positions. I'm looking forward to this.

That is one fancy looking piano.

How old is it and what does something like that sell for?

Not sure on the age , will get that info,at it's present condition it sells for around $8000 and to restore it is even more. Not sure on age but I believe over 50 years old. It is a beautiful piece of art and still sounds great, they are high maintenance though and humidity is one of it's worst enemies.

Nicely done...what sort of light did you use to achieve this one? Don't tell me it is just a flash...I tried to photograph a hammer dulcimer in a band practice two or three weeks ago and my shots sucks big time...Hammer dulcimer is way before piano was invented so it would have been interesting because it is smaller in nature...now your shot here makes me curious to the sort of photography you are using and the lighting...

    Re: Play That Tune

First things first , yes external flash(FL600-R) set at auto TTL , the last pic is f/3,5 1/60sec ,14mm, ISO 100. The other twopics of the inside where done with same flash mode f/3.9 1/60sec,18mm,ISO 100. Note the flash was tilted up towards a white ceiling. Some pp was done to enhance the colors and a subtle adjustment in the brightness was needed. Thanks for checking them out,Izzie.

Thanks for the info Raymond...truly appreciate it very much as I thought you did some special directional lighting/s of some sort. I will try to use my flash properly I suppose much as I am learning how not to at the moment and use my triangle more.
