    I can't really explain why the first one isn't working. Possibly the angle is a bit more 'square on' so we aren't getting so much perspective?

    Well, it seems unanimous thus far. I like the tighter one also because it leaves a bit more to the imagination. There could be an infinite sea of containers. In the first shot you can see boundaries. Composed/cropped slightly differently and I'd prefer the frame with more containers displayed. For the same reason. Suggestion of an infinite stack of them. Nicely seen and captured.

    Tight for me too although I also agree with Dan a tight crop with more containers in the frame would also work very well!

    Dave's point on the perspective correction suggestion is also very valid - at a minimum you might want to consider straightening the image along one of the vertical lines of the stacked containers.
