    No camera!

So I thought I would take Rosie (my Labrador) for a short afternoon's walk at the harbour. Everything was just right for this shot at that moment but I had left the camera at home. Not for the first time my iPhone 4 was called into service resulting (with a little help from Photoshop CS6) in this.

Sometimes I wonder about full frame DSLR's.

I guess I'm dense because I'm missing the point.

Its always been the debate..better a shot taken than completely missed out....i think its a great image..but lets be honest and get down to the core....if you had a dslr on ya at this particular time..would you use the iphone or the DSLR?..also....is this going on the wall (or somehwere in your folders?)...or would the possibility of it been on the wall have been better if you had your dslr?

Please dont misunderstand me..it is a great image..everything about it is right...i just wish you had your DSLR on ya

I know from the consistent quality of your work Dan that you are anything but dense. I am a committed fan of full frame but there are times when the results from my iphone (and my Olympus Stylus 1) at least momentarily really surprise me. It's great to have the opportunity to record the moment when you are short of the 'real' camera.

Many thanks for your comments Claudio. And you are absolutely right, my Df was the camera to get the best out of this moment but sometimes all you want to do is walk the dog, and then the scene jumps out at you.

As we all know this moment will not arise again but there will be others, and I usually am prepared.

Nice image, doesn't matter which camera; it's all about controlling how you exhibit the shot.

Dial that number, a well done capture and that is what counts.

No doubt. I rarely take a DSLR on holiday. And those are (hopefully) some rather memorable moments to capture. The question is, if you'd had a DSLR with you, would you have taken the same photo?

Just imagine what the iPhone6 would have produced!

Seriously, your point is well taken. I've always admired photos taken using cell phones in the hands of an excellent photographer.

Many thanks Mike, Grahame and Izzie. Even in the most familiar and mundane places, the elements can suddenly snap into place and it's magic if you can capture that moment.
