I would assume that this area has been "cleaned up" or renovated. I'd love to se a similar shot of this lane a hundred or two years ago...
There was once a New York newspaper that had a weekly section which showed a photo of an area or building now and how that building or area looked a long time ago. That was really interesting to me as a young wanna-be photographer...

I've never been to your country when the weather is dry...which is quite a pity. I do not use my camera in the rain unless I am inside poking it outside...Rain and UK seems to go together hand-in-hand...I like this shot. At least you straightened the RHS...
