    Macro on the cheap...

Or should I say a very tight budget. I was playing around with my relatively-new-to-me old Micro Nikkor 55 and a Kenko 2x extender + a Nikon PK-13 tube. With all that mounted I think I was shooting at 165mm. The distance to subject was @8" or so which was nice since before the PK-13 and Kenko it was more like 1/2" distance which wasn't working out too well.

All told I've got about $75 total invested, if I include the cost of the lens (it was a gift). I'm a happy camper as this will make macro a lot of fun now that I'm not 'in their face' with the lens any more.

This is what I got after a quick setup on the tripod just to see what it would do.

    Macro on the cheap...

    No fancy PP, just resizing.
Any comments are more than welcome, it is an amateur's attempt with very little $$ involved.

Very sharp the upper part , the small portion at the bottom seems a little off .The Nikkor 55mm f/2.8is a nice lenses and should preform well , a true work horse and has been around since 1979 . Great lenses especially used for a cost effective macro lenses.

This is showing the DOF, that's why it's not completely sharp throughout the photo. It was taken at about a 35* angle, wide open. It's a f3.5 non-AI which I had mod'ed. I'm really pleased with its performance when used with the PK-13 tube.
