The 'violet blue' is the colour the flower is....am not aware it has influenced the rest of the shot.

"Getting" arty? As if anything you have ever produced isn't arty!
I especially like the second one for the three layers, the colors, the lines and the sparse foreground material.

I like the subtle tones of light on the wall in the first image, Sharon - very evocative.
I like the 2nd much more, though. The colours, textures and lines take me away.

I love that your responses to these are so diverse.
It just shows how much we all have very personal and different views on what is aesthetically pleasing.
