Fair point John, there is much less need for sharpening in the initial series. But.... I noticed on the first series that the 'high frequency' elements of the image eg the shells and parts of the Millefiore were sharpened. The effect was nowhere near as strong as for the moon shots. It's this that is rather puzzling.I think the reason for the difference is that the first series didn't need as much sharpening, there was nothing to correct.
The only reason I can think of to explain the difference is that the moon comprises about 1/16 of the total frame, compared to the other sequence , which is 100%.
