A shot not often captured...
A male Halictoxenos (twisted wing insect) copulating a female , who was inside the abdomen of a Lasioglossum (sweat bee), in the subgenus Dialictus,. Lasioglossum are parasitized by that genus of twisted wing insects. Male Halictoxenos only live for about 5 hours after they are born & have no mouth parts which with to feed. Their sole purpose is to seek out a mate to inseminate. I have been fortunate to capture this breeding several years running

I used a Nikon D300 with a mid 19080's "Lester Dine" MF 105mm F2.8 macro lens & matching ring/point light...Handheld
