    The seeker of truth.

I dont have much to say about this one. It 'speaks' to me but I don't want to impose any thoughts on the viewer.I shall leave it to you to take/decide whatever message or emotion it brings to you.

    All Comment and critique welcome.

I like this a lot but not necessarily in the way suggested by your caption. Just as you don't want to impose your thoughts on the viewers, I won't mention anything else about mine.

    Hi Sharon,
I'm fascinated with the direction your work is heading. They are not unlike a Rorschach test in that they are abstract enough to allow one to draw ones own interpretation. And I'm lovin' the color choice you've been using, the 'gold' (?) really works well in this image. Not a clue how you go about doing this but the textures, shadows and light are amazing. Ultimately, I see a deconstruction; multiple layers of light and texture that conveys confusion and disarray, nicely balanced by the silhouette of the man in the doorway, calmly reading in the midst of all the disarray. Strong work!

    Thanks Jack.

I hate even putting a title to my pics as everything I add in description restricts how the viewer sees it and I'd rather folks see what they see. I hope that doesn't sound pompous. :/

This was inspired by observing that even people who are dying continue to read...to spend time to take in information that will ultimately vanish is a comment on the human condition...our desire to comprehend, make some sense of what is around us...no matter how chaotic.

Hi Sharon. Quite remarkable image, light, shade different textures and layers...and then the figure...keeps me looking and searching.

I don't understand it other than there's someone reading. Other than that, it has an elegance of it's on in the grunge that keeps my eyes wondering. I like it, I can't explain why but I do. Thank you.

I like the textures and tones - particularly the toning - Sharon, but the light puzzles me. There is bright light in the foreground and bright light in the background. I'm conditioned to expect the light to come from the same direction. But as Jack so aptly puts its: confusion and disarray. Why shouldn't an artist challenge the laws of physics?

    I just wonder about . . .

A slight crop of the right side and a similar amount from top/bottom/both?

There is a straight white line across the image at a critical point, and a similar (reflection) at the bottom. I find these to be a fraction 'strong' and are slightly overwhelming all those soft curves?

Superb; i am enchanted by its marvel!!!!since truth can have many levels, as the case may be, your caption does not impose any condition how one should evaluate the subject; very well done

Hi Greg, thanks for your comments.

The lighting is staggered over three areas....in the foreground it comes from the left and is reflected by a surface on the left. In the middle distance the light comes from both lft and right and where the figure is, that room is lit only from the right.

    All ambient.

and my apples still fall down, not up!

Very nice image Sharon. At first sight I found it a bit confusing but then I liked it . I think my confusion comes from the contrast between the reading man and the worn out look in the rest of the image. It is such an image that people can think about the meaning of it and have different feelings about it.

    Re: The seeker of truth.

The grungy wall foreground and its textures is just beautifully done here. It is like or almost similar to peeling paint and the lighting and shadows emphasized them more. With the reading man, it feels like I will be intruding in his chosen activity if I happened to tread through that corridor, afraid that I might break his concentration. Well done, Sharon...It is a picture of quiet comprehension that it does not matter where he is, he is learning, or he is more absorbed in his own world in that book.
