    Its a Fantastic Photo. Great composition and nice depth of field. Plus like Donald has already stated good timing.

    I would have loved to have been there to hear the sound coming from that bird.

    Thanks Chris, Pelicans are fascinating creatures. I love to spend an afternoon watching them when I can. They have such attitude and swagger which offer so many great photo opportunities.

    This is an awesome shot, Barbara. As always your composition is great. I don't recall what you're using for PP software. But just a couple of tweaks suggested.

    1.Bring up whitepoint just a touch.
    2.Lower luminance in blue channel and/or slightly reduce blue sat(to counter raising white point on water)
    3.Selectively increase clarity/micro contrast on the bird
    4."Heal" the dark spot on water at right edge of frame inside the beak
