Tentative steps forwards
Hi there
I have spent the last few years depending on the CiC tutorials to hammer some technique into my bad-addled brains, but never before thought to join the forum. Doh!
I have now reached the stage at which I cautiously call myself an intermediate photographer. All this means is that I now know how much there is that I don't know, and that is a lot. But I am keen and determined and up for a challenge. I have focused so far on still life, but have recently started branching out of my comfort zone and into the big, scary, outside world.
So, I am very pleased to finally be here and can't wait to get stuck in.

Welcome aboard Max...can we assume that Brighton is in England?

Welcome (formally) to the CiC community, Max.
I think posting questions and getting feedback on your work are two very important steps in evolving as a photographer; which is why I joined CiC in the first place. I hope that you will find that being a member helps you as much as it helped me!

Hi Max,
Welcome - eventually - to the CiC forums, I'm glad you decided to join the community.
Which aspect(s) of 'the outside world' have you started with?
What are you shooting with?
Can we see some? (you'll probably find your progress even quicker with personalised feedback)
Going forward here, you may find these threads helpful:

Re: Tentative steps forwards
Thanks all for the warm welcome.
chauncey, yes, Brighton is in England.
GrumpyDiver, yes, exactly. I have been finding it difficult to get hard crit, with people seeming to prefer to say "That's nice" than anything that could be construed as negative. Not knocking "That's nice", better than "That's rubbish", but it is not as useful as something more specific, particularly in terms of what to try differently next time. So, yes, looking forward to giving and receiving useful crit.
Dave, thanks. I currently have a Canon 60D and a new (to me) Fujifilm X-E1, to persuade me to take a camera out with me. I have set myself a project to photograph the main London cemeteries (yes, I know...). I have posted a thread with my first two attempts here. Any and all feedback would be very much appreciated.
Looking forward to getting going here. Thanks again for helping me feel at home.
