I had never thought about squirrels having strong jaws, especially when you look at their little undershot lower jaws, but as they crack nuts for a hobby, I guess they would be incredibly strong for their size.
That is possibly the most succinct bit of animal/human relationship wisdom I have ever heard.
Haven't had much time for the camera this week but couldn't resist taking the old girl out to pose her in the backyard on this lovely, sunny day. I had her just underneath the outside branches of a large pine tree to avoid the harsh noon light. Any tips for photographing a black dog would be gratefully accepted! I usually stick with black and white when photographing her. (1/90 f/11 iso 125 50mm lens used.)

Hi Myra,
I think you've done very well with a black dog there - it's a lovely picture.
Can't really suggest anything to improve it, certainly not compositionally.
I guess a reflector on the left to shine a bit of light into the shadows might help, but the pose and lighting and head angle here really mean the benefits would be minimal. Also if you'd started phaffing with one of those, it would likely have distracted the model
Good work,
She is beautiful I love her eyes.

Thanks! D90, Sigma 50mm f/1.4 @ f/2.2
The only post processing was resizing for upload and unsharp mask.
I've had the lens for a couple weeks and like it very much.
It's a bit soft wide open (expected for a fast prime) but gets very sharp at f/2. Auto focus can be challenging, which has been the knock against this Sigma, but I think most of my misses were bad technique on my part or just the weaker AF system of the D90 vs. the D300 or D700.
What a gorgeous, relaxed looking kitty!

Thanks, Dave and Petra. Sometimes I fight a bit with the 50mm lens to get the focus right. I didn't do a great job with the perspective of the left front leg (I've made it look short) and still wish I could get things a bit sharper in camera. All things to practice!

Hi Colin!
Thanks for your message. Unfortunately I was busy with so many other things. I don`t take much pictures at the moment. It great to be a part of this forum and I often think of the nice people in here.
By the way, yes, the bed is very comfortable ...
regards,
Brigitte
Thanks Wendy for kind comment.
