I like the contrasty colors very much, the effect is a bit graphic for me though.

I like it. Yes its a little over the top with the edit but there is something aesthetically pleasing to it. Maybe if you could get a little more colour into it and not have it so contrasting. Just a thought.

I have never used a white vignette... the thought comes to mind that with a bit of gaussian blur in the vignette you could get a 'coming out of the mist' feeling happening?
But to answer your question a little stronger could work with a little more feathering around the edges?

Raymond, I think your son has a lot of promise as an artist/photographer (or has he realised that already?). I like it.
