Too Easy
When my mentor first proposed this lesson, I said to myself, "This will be too easy".
First, do you know how hard it is to find a specific word, in the right place, on the right inner column of the dictionary? It is impossible!!!!
Then, I had a lovely word, "troth" and a lovely image, and I was so excited! But then, just as I thought..."we got it!" I saw, in the definition above, a dreaded word..."diarrhea". So, nope - back to the drawing board to find another word in the proper position. No luck. I ended up doing a sacrilege - I tore a page out of the dictionary! And I placed the page on the right side! So, tah dah! Fixed that problem.
So, after some time and many fumbles (one such as leaning on the props), I finally have a picture.
Please tell me what you think

Re: Too Easy
I like the idea Marie. How about a square crop to put the emphasis more on the ring and the word 'wedding' ?

Re: Too Easy
Hi, Binnur,
I did try that, really, but I lost the definition when I did that, and I wanted to include all of it.

Re: Too Easy
Nice shot Marie!
Almost exactly three years ago I did a little series (not as nice as this shot) with wedding rings and posted it to this site!
I did one shot similar to this one.
I opened a Bible randomly, added the rings, and took the shot! I was concerned about the light and didn’t pay any attention! Later, I noticed I had opened to a passage that mentioned swords, famine, pestilence, wrath, you know, all the stuff on which a solid foundation of marriage is built!
That was the day I flushed any ideas I may have had or ever would have of doing wedding photography!

Re: Too Easy
An excellent example of some serious thought being put into producing an image, well done Marie.

Re: Too Easy
That is an awesome image.
Excuse my English but its an even AWESOMER ring!!! My wife and i both love that sort of medievil sort of look.
Is there a possibility to just brighten the ring and just give it that little more punch? A little more yellowish gold i think would really give it more. Its a WEDDING Ring!!!
Why the hell didnt i use this as a proposal i dont know....
Love it though

Re: Too Easy
Terrific image! It really is amazing when doing this kind of photography to appreciate the little obstacles one encounters and the creativity that is necessary to overcome them.
Considering the details of the dictionary, my only suggestion is that you should have captured and posted the image today, not yesterday.

Re: Too Easy
Dear Terry,
Yup. This exercise really taught me to look at the total picture. Or, at least, if I am so in love with an image, to re-examine it heartlessly before I post.
It was scary how close I was to posting the other image. In fact, it was already processed for posting!
Thanks, as always, for your commentary.

Re: Too Easy
Dear Claudio,
Thank you for commenting!
It is a very pretty band. It goes with my engagement ring, which was an heirloom 3 diamond (for the want of a better word - "forever" ring). The lookof the band matches the diamond ring, which is 1920's = 1930's.

Re: Too Easy
I just wonder if the scene is fractionally on the dark side for wedding as the keyword, Marie, as Claudio mentioned.
Or as an alternative for a sombre setting with plenty of shadows, maybe Separation for the word?
