A great find Trevor and so well executed. I was looking at driftwood on the shore today and every angle I viewed it there was rubbish, yuk.
How big is this one, Trevor...it will be nice to bring it home and make it into deco around the garden...
The advantage on the BC coast is the volume of dead trees that wash down the major rivers every spring. The roots and branches make fantastic subjects once the bark wears off and they weather a few years. The grain is amazing.
A closer view of the centre of the roots. There must be a thousand individual images one could get from this one item.
Very nice find, Trevor. The first two show the entire piece, but I really like the details that you pulled out in the closer view. I agree that there are so many different angles and possible shots in this driftwood. I think you should take more if it's in a location that is close to you. I could spend hours trying for something different.
Unfortunately it is 1400 km (875 miles) with three coastal ferry rides away. A total of 16 hours travel time each way; and the last ferry of the three only runs between 7 am and 6 pm so it is usually a two day trip each way. On the plus side it is where my mom and sister live so I have more than one reason to visit. Although, I must admit in 30 years I have been there 6 times. Maybe once I retire?
