    Archangel Michael

First time out shooting at night with my D7100, had a really excellent time. I was trying to keep the ISO at a level that prevented graininess so the tripod was an essential. Got some really great shots - light trails, moody alleyways, bright streets, really will have to do lots more of this type of photography, loved it!
This was a shot taken in the Quarry Park in Shrewsbury England, very minor mod's, just tweeked exposure a little and cropped it - any comments/critiques appreciated.

It isn't uncommon for new members to have a few problems uploading. This site does have a few quirks at times.

If you still can't show your photos, have a read of this thread.

HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?

This image looks as if there are two superimposed components. There is the statue, presumably of Archangel Michael, and the illuminated mask. Should they really be in that relationship to each other?

    Hi John,

Just a single image, the 'halo' forms part of the statue. Here's another image of it by OP http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2717992

Nice effort, there's a lot of background material that could still be presented, perhaps not what you want to exhibit; but it would make the background branches an added element to the composition.

Hi Shadowman, thanks for the suggestion - yes I reckon that you're right there, I'll give it a go and post again later.

Quite like that Eric. Nice the way you have managed to included the lit area in the distance. Gives the comp some depth. Why is there an apparent difference in white balance between the statue and the branches behind? Is the light on the branches of a different type?

    Hi John,
Thanks for the comments, really appreciated. The halo was lit from behind and I can only assume that the reflected light resulted in the change of hue. I intend on going back here again as this was such a great subject, I'll take a closer look and find out.
