    Alder stump

Remnants of an Alder tree stump returning to nature. I like the rainforest on the BC coast for the amazing ways stuff rots and decays. Astounding variety of mosses, lichens, algae and fungi.

Interesting shot, with the right props this stump could serve as a landscape.

Simply beautiful. I love the colours and the bokeh, I may have taken the errant strand top right out, tends to distract from the overall balance.

Nice work! I love the colors and dof. When we visit our and son and dil out in Seattle, I always try to squeeze in a trip to the woods, e.g., Mt. Rainier NP. The mosses on the trees are amazing.

Beautiful, I am always in wonder at this level, it is another small world we can be oblivious to, we just need to stop and look.
I always think I will start a project on this, I need to perfect my macro.

It may have to die! Kept mulling it over and finally left it. I was fortunate the moss was only starting to fruit as in most of spring moss shots the profusion of these spore capsules/stalks is too obnoxious.

You did a very nice job of photographing what appears to be an entire ecosystem!

Trevor...a nice diversion from your usual abandoned barns...this is absolutely beautiful shot! I agree with Eric about the errand strand. It the first thing I saw too. Overall, it does not matter anymore...

Wonderful view of what we so often miss Trevor. The colours in this work so well.
