Marie's goal was to "create a seamless environment." We would need to know her definition of that to know in empirical terms whether she succeeded. In my own interpretation of what that phrase means, I think she succeeded. All of the tonal values in the background and tabletop vary from values of 242 to 255 except the values in the tabletop that are directly underneath the saucer. That qualifies as being "seamless" in my mind, though I admit that I have never determined what would not qualify.
