It was the first competition for the year for me, our students performed very well.
Where to stand is the challenge at these events, there are many a 'wealthy parent' armed with their 7DMark II giving advice, which may or may not prove helpful.
The school which hosted this comp' has amazing facilities, their own indoor arena, would you believe!
Although Prince Charles did attend here at one time, so I guess it figures :roll eyes:
I try to not always just include clearing the jumps images in my set, so I have some variety, shame about the fire hydrant, though.
The next challenge is to make small jumps appear larger... achieved by laying on the ground, not too much of that gets done by the parents mentioned above..
The riders are taught to look toward the next jump, as their horse is clearing the current one, this sometimes has the horse looking to camera, but the rider not... sometimes these things do line up nicely though..
I am not a fan of 'the double' or 2 jumps in quick succession, as even though it provides 2 chances of a good shot, the horse has to be up & down quickly, I did like the colours on this double though.
My favourite jump is the 2 fences close together, combination jump. The 'air time' is the longest, when the horse/rider are clearing this combination, whig is helpful when these are young riders not Olympians & the jumps are not that high.
& finally... 1 for concentration..
& enjoyment!
