    Tuggie says Bowling Anyone?

A welcomed long weekend visit to dear friend in Ontario afforded time and opportunity to play with dogs and camera.

As always, I am very much looking forward to your comments and suggestions!!

    cheers, Diane

Great capture! I love the intensity of Tuggie's eyes and the snow flying around...

You and Tuggie are having a good time. It's a great action shot and you captured the dog's movement so well.

Thank you everyone, for the kind comments. I appreciate identifying what you liked - that helps me figure out how to name the qualities I favor in a photo. Any suggestions for improvement in shooting or processing are most welcome.
    Thanks! Diane

Great action and excellent techs. Also placement of the dog's eyes in the frame works well and the motion is towards the open space. My only possible suggestion is to leave a bit more space. Or less. Conventional wisdom is to leave enough space for the feet even if they aren't visible. Or crop it to more of a close up. As presented is a tweener.

Thanks, Dan. I really appreciate your comments - it helps me identify what works!! And, thank you so much for making that suggestion about cropping. I was wondering about that. The principle you shared is very valuable - I will keep that in mind when shooting and processing. Something didn't seem quite right, but I couldn't figure out what. I'm going to see if I can make some changes.

Here are different crops on this one. What do you think?

    More Space:

    Less Space:

    Thanks for your help!

Your second crop 'more space' works best for me. It gives a good idea of the depth of snow, the area in which she's playing and with visible snow flying, clearly shows her intensity. Great photo, and the blue-ish (teal?) bowling pin is a great splash of color in the image.

Jack - thanks for the comments - I really appreciate your explanation of what you liked. It helps me to put words to aspects of the photo. I agree, I like the 'more space' crop as well. Small thing, but it makes a big difference.

More space, definitely. Now the little paws aren't cut off beneath the snow it's excellent

Dan - Thanks!! I like it better, too - and learned an important principle from you that will help future shots be better.
I'm really rather fond of this photo - it really captures a lot of Tuggie's personality and the day.
I really appreciate the time you took with this.
