Color bleed around edges of photo?

    Hello,

I recently took some pictures of my shoes, and noticed a white bloom on the shoes on the sides of the picture, as shown below. Does anyone know what could have caused this, and how to prevent it in the future?

    Thanks in advance!

    That's chromatic aberration.

What camera, what lens, what file format and what software are you using?

It should be very easy to fix but need to know specifics first.

Agree with Robin that it looks like chromatic aberration.

"Optical aberrations occur when points in the image do not translate back onto single points after passing through the lens — causing image blurring, reduced contrast or misalignment of colors (chromatic aberration)."

If using LR, there is an eyedropper for chromatic aberration, I believe under the lens corrections tab. Select the eyedropper, click on the bloom to select the color of the aberration to be removed.
I'm sure there are similar methods using other software. What do you use?

I am using a Nikon D3200 with a NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR lens. The photo was shot in the NEF format and used in photoshop.

What did you use for your RAW processing prior to import into PS?

I believe it was Adobe Camera Raw.

The default for the camera from the Nikon included software...I think its called "Capture" or Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) which is often used with PS?

Either way, the RAW processing program will have a section for lens corrections that is similar to what I pointed out for LR. Play with them to see if the aberration will go away. I don't use either Nikon Capture or ACR so I cant tell you exactly where to go, sorry. If the lens correction method wont work, there is bound to be something easy in PS that will take care of it.

I checked again and changed my post to ACR. Thank you also for the suggestions, I'll try them tonight.
