You are right for oversharpening - here it looks much to sharp.

All those legs look a bit confusing but it becomes much clearer at full screen size.

It looks like you used a HDR Toning tool and went a little heavy on the detail slider.
It is better if it's larger.

I have reprocessed, but sometimes these impalas do look like pasted in the pictures; and thanks to Nandakumar, Geoff and wm c for commenting and suggesting.
However right now I get a 503 error when trying to upload with tiny pics; will try later.

I think the sharpening is accentuating a natural phenomenon that these creatures use to confuse their predators. I personally like the sharpness but combine that with the proximity of the hues they have with the grass and I see a natural camouflage going on here. It's a great shot of what it is.

Thank you David; I did not yet find a "rule" under what light conditions - especially impalas - get this "sharp" contours.

I think so, second shot a bit better, they do stand out more for sure and I agree, that buck in the background is an opportunist, not a boss.
