Hi Bud - I use Photoshop to put a very simple frame around my pictures.

I'm sure that the same thing could be easily achieved using any similar graphics software - GIMP, PS Elements etc.

    Landscapes: Please Post them Here

Caught just before the sun cracked the horizon, as the early morning mist began to rapidly dissipate.

Colin can probably weigh-in here better than I but here's something that got me started that I copied from CiC previously:

    1. Click on 'Reply to Thread'. It appears just below the last post in the thread - on the left side.
    2. Below the text box, Click on 'Click Here To Upload Photos From Your Computer'.
    3. Click 'Choose File.'
    4. Click 'Browse'.
    5. Find the image on your computer, and then select it.
    6. Open the image (process may vary depending on whether you use Windows or Mac).
    7. Click 'Upload Now'.
    8. Wait for the upload to complete, and you see the 'Success' sign.
    9. Copy the URL that appears in the box (you probably won't see all of it).
    10. Paste the URL into the text box. Make sure it appears there.
    11. Click on 'Go Advanced' at the bottom on the right side.
    12. You will see your image in a preview (it hasn't posted yet).
    13. In the 'Title' field just below the image, erase what's there and type in the name of your image.
    14. You CAN go ahead and post it by clicking 'Submit Reply', but I prefer to click 'Preview Post' first so I can look at it.
    15. If it looks ok, now click 'Submit Reply' and the image will be posted.

I thing a more wider crop horizontally may be a solution, that is if you have more image left to the sides.
If you don't, perhaps just a pure square would be fine...
I have done two squares. One or the other. But both please me

No. Not true. I like best the one on the left. The one on the right is missing the path too much.

    Hi Antonio and all

Great thread. Niall's nice pic from Northern Ireland brought to mind this one I shot myself the other week while walking in Wales. I'd slogged up the side of a mountain called Pen y Fan when I came upon this spacious vista. I loved its symmetry and emptiness, and the cloudy sky made me think immediately of black and white. I tried my widest lens but then thought of a panorama, using multiple shots (9 or 10) stitched together. After that I thought I'd add some single shot HDR just to increase the detail. What I'm not sure about is the lack of anything to give the scale for other viewers - right at the far left of the image you might be able to make out some tiny fellow walkers, but they're not noticeable. On the other hand, what I liked about the view was the emptiness and feeling of s-p-a-c-e - maybe the emptiness is right...

    best to all, David

    Hi David

I like this image, the symmetry is amazing and the sense of emptiness is certainly there. It must have been an uplifting experience just being there.

    Cheers Dave

Sure was, Dave. The normal thing is to photograph the Welsh mountains, not the valleys! But there's something about big empty spaces... Plenty of that where you are! I've visited Brisbane a few times and taken in the view from that look-out on Mount Coot-tha - bet you've taken photos from there? The worry is that big empty spaces mean big empty pictures, right? Like you, I loved the symmetry of the place, which I guess is the subject in a way - the shapeliness of the landscape....

    Cheers

David we live just west of Mt Coot-tha (you did well to get the spelling right ) and I often go for a walk up to the mountain via one of the many bush tracks in the Forest Park. You do get a good view of the city from there but I'm still trying to get a good shot of sunrise over the city with building tops peeping above the fog (which doesn't happen very often).

    Cheers Dave

Oh, this makes me "breathe"! It's so beautiful! (Hope you know what I mean.) I was just wondering where you are and if, somehow, I'd been missing your posts. I'm very glad to see this!

No I am not wrong. I went to look for the post. You have been to the Schwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg region and not Baviera as in my mind. A most beautiful area, this part of Germany
I have nothing to say about it but that it is an excellent image.
