Joe...is there a way you can extract a little bit more separation of the beaks of these birds? As is without expanding it in lytebox, the two at the front is quite OK, the birds are complete...but I was curious about the last two (flying) because I can barely see their beaks. They sort of merged with the trees. The tails looks OK thought but I have to expand in lytebox for curiosity because all I can see are the whites of their body. Overall, it is a good shot with an appropriate title too.
I think they are Swans Joe,
Excellent capture though.
I think it ought to be a caption competition for what the two on the runway are saying to each other
Personally; I think you could lose 10% off the right hand side to the benefit of the composition.
Excellent content with the two grounded birds included. I agree with Dave's suggestion to crop a bit from the right side. From a technical standpoint it looks like the camera was focused on the BG rather than on the birds which are softer than the tree branches.
I know from experience how easy it is to let the Focus point slip off the flying subject momentarily while panning.
Not sure whether your Canon has an equivalent of the Nikon feature that allows adjustment of the delay, after the focus point 'sees' a different distance, before it refocuses - if it has, it might be worth making that a tad longer. (This applicable to continuous focus mode only)
Mind you, at other times; that longer delay can be a frustration when acquiring focus on a new subject if you whip pan to attempt lock on to it, although a release and repress of whichever button (back or shutter) is responsible for focusing, overcomes that - if I remember!
(which just means I need more practice)
Cheers, Dave
Very beautiful...and those two sitting and watching birds makes this a really special image; very well done
How about blurring the background a little bit, Joe? so the black beaks will be more visible?
