Another smoke/steam pix

doing it completely the wrong way .... I noticed all the smoke coming out of the steam engine I was having a steam-up in the workshop I grabbed the camera and took a photo by ambient light using the funnel to focus on.
Silly me thought the dark curtain behind would set it off .. Ha !!
After trying to rescue in editing I had this ... must really find time to do it properly

I didn't make her ... some clever chinese did for Accucraft in the States who then sent it to me in a lovely and typical bright red 'chinese style' red box. Boiler tested to 150psi and she starts working at about 60psi. LPG fired.




Phots taken to explain to non-eng son how it works and my level of construction .. a bed to oil and work on the underside.

The Dremel was used to make a 2.5mm spanner

edit .. GNWR - Great Nasty Weeds Railway as only weeds and roses grow in my neglected garden ... only yellow roses. The first photo was just to show him .. a heavy blighter and the track has been strengthened since with more support

Do you care to tell us what gauge this train is, apart from .... beautiful??? My ex-BIL collects trains of the small varieties ... I started collecting HO but was distracted by photography. ...

45mm or 44.5mm to be more precise ...I think Americans call that 1 3/4"
Accucraft calls it 1/20.3 scale though that is questionable when their Forney originally ran on 2ft gauge [Sandy River and Lakes, Massachusetts ? ] which would require a model gauge of 30mm [ 1.18" ]

Dave ... I think from a working point of view the smallest loco in the Accucraft range 'Dora' with its twin oscylating cylinders with 2:1 gearing works the best. The resistance in that gear train of the Climax must be tremendous and also the design does not like the tight curves of my test track as a more knowledgable guy told me.

Dora on my test track, wide space sleepers of a light narrow gauge RR ..chairs holding rail injection moulded by me ... just a test track not a miniature version of the world.

Can you work it to the point of it bringing in your mail from the mailbox so you do not have to go out when it is raining? Just asking...I have seen one like it....once.
