Good one Greg he's some monster. I photographed one of the species up close and could not determine the eyes easily, I captured them purely by luck.
Thanks Grahame, would love to see that photo.
In Tasmania we don't have too many of these beastie's wandering around so it was amazing to be able to handle a live one. The size of the insects in the tropics is incredible. Here they are small but they kill you, a fair trade off I guess
Nice effort, looks good.
Great colour and detail Greg.
Very nice photo of an interesting creature Greg. Who was holding it ? I wouldn't dare
I love that you have captured his irridescence.
He is huge!!!! We have some here, but certainly not as large.
Marie
You bug guys are ... just weird. I'd think a true Ozzy would throw a saddle on it.
You guys grow some big bugs! What's in the water?
Not always Barbara...when I went home recently, I noticed that our bees around here are much fatter, theirs is more starving and longish looking. (True story!) Also their penguins here are so much bigger than the ones over at home. Not to mention the sea gulls, they are pretty small too compared to here...and more for later.
Anyway, Greg...this is a beautiful shot and correct me if I am wrong, but this beauty is a guy one. Good capture...
Nice shot, Greg. It looks kinda sad to me.
An excellent shot of this huge bug that is rather scary looking. However, I would also try to get a good picture of it before fleeing You captured the magnificent color and textures so well. I like it!
If you had got the eyes odds are you would have lost the shell. I think it's a good trade off.
