Lincoln Steep Hill
I think I have mentioned before, I dont normally photograph people especially street photography, but took this in Lincoln a couple of weeks back, I liked the dynamics and strange interation between the young man and the young lady
C & C most welcome given my total lack of knowledge on this subject

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
There is something going on in the scene you captured, they are probably waiting for the gentleman approaching; but other than that not much of interest. I think something might occur, you might have captured the moment a bit too soon. Did you take any other shots of this scene?

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
I find this scene interesting. There is a sort of tension with the three people lower down the hill looking at the person with his back to us. Why is he of interest to them? Perhaps it could by resolved by a later shot as John suggested.
For us rude colonials, there is also some interest in seeing an attractive picture from an old town like this.
As I see it on my computer, there is a slight haziness about the image. If it were mine, I would be tempted to adjust the colour balance (reduce the blue) and increase the contrast.

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
Well, I like the image as it is......not knowing if they are waiting for the man approving or somebody else, or just looking back at something, makes for me the image interesting, I also like the slightly muted color......

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
I am with Tony here...there is haze that needed to be addressed in PP here...shadows looks good...even the two people near the building looking at the same direction of the man with the back turn, are they all waiting for him?

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
John Thanks, nope that was the only one, ah well.
Tony appreciated, yep shooting into the sun is what I think gave the haze, the top of Lincoln by the Cathedral and Castle is nice, steep hill is the way down to the 'new' city, not so nice
Cheers Griddi, appreciated
Thanks Izzie, not sure I did not wait around as i was late to to meet up with my lady, was a bit of a grab shot.

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
In some ways I would have liked to see a fraction more at the sides. Possibly looking just slightly tight at the moment. But maybe you had to exclude something.
Cropping the top would concentrate more on the people but you also lose a lot of interesting roofline area.
Considering the obviously difficult light angle, this has worked well.

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
Thanks Geoff, much appreciated, there was more on the left side and above - my focus was the guys in the middle for the image above but this is the full frame

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
tough shot with the lighting seems to block details of the people and the sky was apparently cloudy overcast that kind of diffused light as you can see in the upper left corner is a tad too light/bright. Only my opinion .

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
Totally agree Raymond, the lighting was very bright but hazy and shootign into it on a 50mm was begging for difficulties !

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
That full size image is certainly a totally different scene, Mark. All in all, I think it is better and is full of interest. Wherever you look there is something to catch the eye, without being over cluttered.

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
Mark - It seems to have some back light in this situation and making it a bit tough and hazy. Moreover, I guess my first thought is it about the people or about the village. I think I would prefer a higher crop on the people if this was the focus.

Re: Lincoln Steep Hill
I like that the original uncut version seems to be a different mode altogether...the place seems to be a melting pot for young people to meet up and/or wait for one another and start their journey of the day from there. Interesting...
