Indeed, a very nice capture. That is an amazingly beautifully intricate web and spider.

I prefer the simpler/darker background of the 1st image for the isolation of the web but this one for the inclusion of the spider.

Everything coming together quite nicely in that shot; although I would clone out those small bright spots in the background.

Sitting there with the 2 front pairs of legs together reminds me of the Pisaura mirabilis spiders which we get in the UK; but they don't spin webs, except as a nursery area for their young.

I agree although the subject is the same the shots are very different and each comes with its own qualities.

Very interesting. How big is that rascal? I think you were on to something in your last post. I'll bet the woven portion of the web hides the spider from both prey and predators. You live in bug nirvana down there...

there are two or three species here that sit like that. As for the two bright spots all I can say is that when you're right you're right. Just a pre coffee thought; In a previous time I wonder if photographers would have been proof readers?

The central portion of the web is about 1/2 Cm. Before she shed her exoskeleton she hid nicely behind it. Now she is slightly bigger. I have not noticed any of this species getting much bigger but they might.

You are right it is bug nirvana where we are. This does however have a downside... 365 days of mosquitoes and fire ants!

Well, Brian, in a 'previous life' (17 to 22) I was a printer; back in the old movable lead type days. But I didn't do much actual proof reading.

I can still look at a word and know if it is spelt incorrectly; but I need a dictionary to correct it nowadays.

Age catches all of us. Big big sigh.
