    Workers in the street...C&C

Can this be considered "street photography"? I was sitting splat on my front door trying to hide in between a bushy fir at the entrance...so here's my story:

Early morning, I saw a guy in blue parked his car along our side of the road. He has his iPad (?) with his back to us, looking up front towards the drain. I asked my husband what he was doing? He took a look and saw the guy got in his car. Later on this truck and machine came on the scene...

3.Here comes this man in blue earlier...I think he looks for irregularities on the street and have his men fix them. If we are going to have another snow in the way (which is not unusual in this kind of weather here) this fixes will just be ruined by the snow plow...

    4. Seems like he is going a good job? What do you think?

Works for me as street photography, very vibrant colors and sharpness. The tighter, closeup shots with the worker and gear work best. The shots with the house in background not so well, although #3 brings in all the stray bits (mailbox, tree, house) very nicely. #4 would work if not for the mailbox and protruding shrubs at the bottom. Nicely done.

I like their idea of safety represented by the arrow sign on back of the trailer. Not quite as visible and the flashing lighted ones used on many places.

Funny about that mailbox that I did not noticed before I uploaded my image...That will begone! Thanks for pointing it out.
I am quite amazed at the sharpness that came out of it despite that I was shooting without my contacts -- (I had no spare and the last one went down the drain when I dropped it there of all places... and with the water running too.) Hey, I have a good camera -- it should take good photos for me automatically....

Yeah well...#3...I was careless there as I like the framing of the tree on this side of the road and the other side of road closing up the characters but what do I know while shooting with blurry eyes...??? Sorry...

The close-up with the gear if not there will not complete my story...but thank very much for the comments and critiques. I truly appreciate it very much...

Hmmmm....I have no idea. Hubby-do knows but he is not here at the moment as he used to be president of our "village". I hate that term really as it reminds me of the village people song group of so long ago. Remember them? But people here insists on calling our street a village...

Snooty neighbourhood I should say -- women here put on their make-up to go to the front garden which is mandatory to be taken cared of well and manicured (?) -- is that a word for gardens?

If you will notice too about the mailbox we have uniform heights, uniform size and either black or white. Ours was of an old era one, about 25 years old and one day our next door neighbour had an accident and run over our path taking it with her. So now we have the same model as our neighbour's mailbox. Numbers go down as you go up the hill in this street.

These are nice well composed pictures with a good story. It tells us something about the feel of the place.

In our street people take pride in having a letterbox different to everybody else, we tend to be non-conformists.

Izzie, nice shots and story line. Your street is much more interesting than mine, nothing happens on ours.

Enjoyed the story Izzie and a nice set of shots. Not bothered about the odd mail box, it's the environment you live in. As to your neighbours "little accident", as of last evening, I can relate to that. We live in a small close at the top of a country lane and last evening we had a visitation from a 12 wheeler, lost due to his Sat. Nav. (he claimed). Getting in was easy. Backing out was impossible. You can see the effect on our neighbours "well manicured" garden. In the second shot, he is in the process of uprooting a tree and a road sign. In the end we had to take a field gate off its hinges to give him room to turn and escape.

Loved, loved the story and pics, Izzie. I do not like neighborhoods that tell you what to do with your property. That's why we like living out in the country with very few neighbors You live in a very nice place and handled the street photography very well.

'In the street' - yes, Izzie. Street photography doesn't have to be about the streets of a major city. I think there is a 'genre' here waiting to be tapped - the suburban street - where 'normal' people live. There is a lot that goes on out there, particularly when tradesmen turn up. Sit back. wait and observe. They will perform.

Griddi and Tony, thank you for your comments ... I know Australia very well... and I smiled at how the mailbox situation is handled there...here is one:

    Workers in the street...C&C

This mailbox belongs to my son's and DIL when they first moved in their new house. Since then it had changed to this now that they had been for nearly a year...because he is proud of his career I suppose...so his now and current mailbox is a computer case... as you can see they even put flowers around it...

Not at my place...here or in Oz, I go out to the mailbox in my pajamas if I want to...hubby and I put on our tattered "working clothes" when doing the garden, back or front and about 4 or 5 years back, in the middle of gardening we decided it was time to change our little Mitshubishi and went out in that car (our working car) to the hardware store (similar to Bunnings), about 20 or 25 minutes drive from where we live to pick up a few things. Along the way, we passed by a car dealership along that areas of dealerships zone. We went to Lexus first because they had this ad about their car doing a parallel parking. I'd like to have me one of those even if I thought on how many times do you really use parallel parking in a parking lot?? You know...tattered jeans, holey baloney! my shirt did not have the exact buttons! My hubby's jeans on the knee was oiled and we are driving a small old Mitshubishi??? We were treated rudely at that store...so we went next door to an Acura store. We were treated so nice and well despite how we looked and was even given the chance to test drive their vehicle of our choice. Guess what? We ended up buy that vehicle instead. For about 4 years we go back and forth for service and parts there and recently we noticed that Lexus was no more in that area -- it turned into one of those rent a car facility. Must have something to do with customer service....who knows?

Dear Barbara and Binnur...thank you for the peeks and comments. Barbara...since last year when the county decided to fix a working street, where they ruined our front yard really at the end, every now and then, they find something to do with their workers...you know how they work...any work is work no matter what. I wish I had taken that short of two workers guiding a workman on how to do his job and the driver. It really took all 5 of these people to work one street, including the guy supervisor in blue...very funny I think...

I know this is mean, but you could have just let him do his damaging stunt John, but took note of his truck and plate number and sue him for damages later... Nice story with images to support. This is great...well at least you street seems to be on the level than ours because with ours it goes uphill...good for jogging and walking the dog sort of thing because of the undulating curves of the road and the uphill/downhill run.

Well lucky you! Many of our friends lived in the country too but this is our main stay for personal reasons. As much as we want to have moved to Tennessee last year, that choice suddenly changed this year when we lost our son to cancer. Too much memories here I do not want to leave behind...

Thank you very much for your comment. I truly appreciate it.

Thanks Greg...when I am downstairs in my laptop in the afternoon I noticed a few happenings there but never really thought about it until this red thingiemagig turned out...the sequence was really funny so I thought of going to the front door and hiding behind one of our plants there and take pictures...thank you for commenting...I surely will wait and see...the family room window is also a good place but the dogs beat me to that area...I better move their couch from there and put a table there instead...winter and rainy days are good observation points there...
