Has anyone taken a class given by Canon?
There is one here in a couple of weeks that looks interesting. It is on a Saturday which will take from the time I get to spend with my husband and son. I want to make sure that it is not all about selling me equipment with a little education thrown in and more about the education. Hoping someone has been and can advise me. Thanks in advance!

I have been at several Canon seminars and they varied in quality from superb (Canon Printers) to mediocre (Canon flash)...

Re: Has anyone taken a class given by Canon?
The "EXPERT" who presented the Canon Flash Seminar did not know that when the flash is set at HSS (High Speed Sync), it will automatically revert to normal sync when the shutter speed is below the maximum sync speed for that camera (usually 1/250 or 1/200 second depending on the camera used)..
In fact he disputed that and would not believe it. I kind of lost interest in what the "EXPERT" said.
This was compounded when he stated that the Stofen was the best thing in the world when bouncing flash...

Barbara,
Have not attended a Canon seminar, but have been to other brand seminars. Generally came back from the seminars with some bit of new knowledge. Meeting others with similar interest was worth attending the seminars.

Hi,Babara, don't no to be honest what going to a live seminar and paying $35 or looking for what you want to learn on the net.
I just looked on youtube for a couple of the subjects covered in your list.
https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...th+more+detail
https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...+photographs.+
https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...nt+speedlites+
Understand if at a seminar there is something you don't understand you ask but also you can ask here where there are many photographers who no that 1+1 =2 and won't try to sell you a calculator.
