I really like these, Pat. Nice, well shot bird and setting. The set of hues and textures on the seaweed and rocks is striking and lovely, but challenge the bird for one's attention. I think that problem is best addressed in the second, where the bird has a more interesting pose, and less competition from its immediately adjacent background. It is my favorite of the two. For the first, I could see cropping out some of the large bright space at the top and left - it might help the subject be more prominent.
Nice shots, my only criticism would be the lack of seperation between the bird and the bg
First one is interesting because the beak looks like it is broken, second is a nice capture.
Hi Folks,
Thank you for your comments, was hoping for a shot with a better background but while watching and waiting One Man and his Dog came along and the bird took flight with it's breakfast firmly held in it's beak,
Best Wishes,
Pat
I wonder if some slightly different crops to reduce a bit of the out of focus background might be worth trying?
Good shots with plenty of interesting.
Hi Pat. I like #2 and the highlights are a bit distracting in #1.
In the first shot the beak is hidden inside the muscle shell. Unfortunately the muscle is nearly invisible because it blends so well with the seaweed in the BG. Look carefully at it.
For the reason of the BG, like most others I prefer the second shot which is really excellent. Nicely done.
