I like the focus achieved in the second shot better than the first.

I like the pose, comp, and lighting in no.1. But the lad is pierced with multiple branches including the proverbial branch through the head. For that reason I like the second one better.

Sharpening seems a bit on the harsh side for my tastes in the first image. Much better in the second; but a bit of rotation to put the verticals upright would have improved it for me.
