Thumbnails no longer show images

I am sure that this is operator error. My Photoshop CS6 program no longer shows thumbnails of the images I am trying to open. Instead, it shows me a layout like this:



I do see my images when opening them using Adobe Bridge...



I really miss having my thumbnail images displayed in Photoshop CS6. How can I bring them back?

I used to have this problem with my CS5 before...but I didn't know I resolved it...sorry. I hope someone else here can help you...

Is that only occurring when you try to save or when viewed through Windows Explorer?

I'm no computer expert [and I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn last night either] but I suspect Dan is on the right trail. It probably has to do with the amount of memory allocated to that program and how it makes use of it.

Try clicking on the square icon at the end of the Save as line. It will have a downward facing arrow, click on that and choose thumbnail. As you hover over the icon it will display "View Menu".

It is a windows explorer operation, but also depends on the format of the files, ie works for jpeg and tif
On the top line of your window click the mini window icon (on the right or next to right in the line, on your images its about a 1/3rd way from left, the last icon)this opens a menu and you need to set it to thumbnails. Windows will create a thumbnail file .th I think which sits in the same directory. This can be directory specific setting, so you may need to change a number of directories, though usually this is an inherited property when a new directory is created.

Sometimes the thumbnails are extracted from the raw files. It may help to re-install the codecs for your cameras.

If you face this option only while opening the files in CS then it is something different but in case the issue persists while viewing image files normally by opening the folder then try this (make sure you have set the file layout to large or extra large icons)

Computer --> Organise (left hand side button on toolbar) --> Folder and search options --> View --> Always Show icons, never thumbnails (uncheck) --> Ok
