    Red granaries

    Sagging but still standing.

While I was waiting for the sun to illuminate the granaries one of the locals stopped to ask me what I was up to (he was worried I was trying to poach a record white tail buck who lived near the granaries). He asked why anyone would take pictures of old granaries. I did not have a good answer. Beyond "chacun a son gout".

I like the soft blue sky vs the reddish tress and granaries.

"We all need, someone to lean on".

Good shot, Trevor. The first thing that took my attention was the colours. Then I wondered if it would have been possible to take the shot from a different angle to show the leaning structure more. Could you have moved further to the right so the perspective would have been more front on?

Yet another interesting shot, Trevor. Since the sky isn't really dramatic I wonder if this is a candidate for pano format to really emphasize the row of structures.

By the way, with all these abandoned farms you shoot, I'm beginning to feel like I should be hording grain products

Trevor....the colourful structure is very prominent...I like the composition very much.

P.S. Next time someone commented on your activities over there, tell them you like your chicken noodle soup better in winter.

Nice shot Trevor, as someone before said it would be a good idea to shoot them head on?

That's sort of sad. In a way, it's indicative of a way of life gone by. But it is a nice shot. Love the colours and I like the fact that you have left the weight(shadow) at the base but with just enough detail to stop it becoming a block.

Not visible in this shot is a collapsed shed in front of, and to the right, of these granaries. I have to shoot from here to avoid it. It has intruded in other shots and I find it to be a very negative element.

I will look into the pano aspect, a good idea.

If you are worried about a grain shortage then do as I do. Hoard some grain, or at least their products. Currently I estimate I have about a six month supply of beer and doughnut products stored around my waist.

Thanks John When I processed this I worked on the shadow to get more colour and detail in the snow and stubble. Glad it worked.

Sad to see these old structures go, and the speed of loss is increasing as they all are of a similar age and degree of decay. However the graceful decrepitude is of interest to me. May be only a few more years before they all rot away.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. I think I'm well prepared

Very enjoyable, as I would expect coming from your camera.

Nice shot, I would try the pano version as Dan suggested
