Solar Eclipse
This morning's (20 March) partial solar eclipse as seen roughly 15 minutes before its peak. Cloud cover thinned enough for some shots like this but not enough for the maximum eclipse here in North Wexford.
Nikon Df with Nikkor 70-300mm, 1/3200 at f11, iso 100. Cropped from original

Re: Solar Eclipse
Well done, Neville. Good one. I was sitting outside reading a book (by an Irishman living in Burgundy) as it was going on. We had clear skies and the depth of colour in the blue sky as it reached maximum cover (it wasn't total) was incredible.

Re: Solar Eclipse
Nice Neville, very sharp and crisp image. I was stuck in work, a caught a lift up to the 13th floor to view it, but it wasn't the best.

Re: Solar Eclipse
Nice capture Neville, I had reasonable clear skies here almost from the beginning. Haven't offloaded them yet.
There looks to be one fairly clear sunspot in the upper left quadrant to add a bit of interest. Will post some later.

Re: Solar Eclipse
Sorry, Neville, the message was posted for another site. However, I really like the shot through the clouds. Something different.

Re: Solar Eclipse
Many thanks to all. It was really strange how dark it got..some of my solar powered lights in the garden tripped on and it really got cold. The cloud cover thickened as the eclipse progressed and I reckon that a local cold spot under cloud will possibly draw more cloud in as the air cools.
The garden birds began to settle again for the night and seagulls which normally fly inland here at dawn began flying coastwards as it got darker. What a strange phenomenon to observe the reaction of some wildlife.
