    When to quit

Another smoke creation...wondering if I went too far with the faux reflections and inverted colors.

On this particular monitor the reflections look like smoke trails or graphite markings. Not sure if that were your intentions or something similar to sunlight shining through blinds.

John...I inverted the swans/resized/applied wave tool/lowered opacity to 30%, probably too much.

    Chauncey,

If I had used that method, I would have probably lowered opacity to only 70%, perhaps to add a bit of volume. However, I can see why you lowered it as much as your background/foreground is so neutral. Any more shadow effect would be too distracting.

    When to quit
It is your image and if you are asking us if it is too much then it's because you aren't happy with it any more.

I think that you have to trust your own judgement. We could all say it's perfect but if you think it's too much..then it is...for you.

Therein lies the problem Sharon, I don't trust my judgment when I step into a different genre.
I added the reflections on a whim...don't know if that whim was a wise choice.

It is a wise choice, William...if you are not happy, change the background...might give you a better mood too...darker than white background???

William, when in doubt like that, I generally shelve the image for a little while thn later come back to it when I have a bit more distance from whatever is bothering me.

I think too often we over analyse/criticise our own work.

I like the swans but the reflections look all wavy and it's not water nor does there seem to be any reason to be wavy?
