I like the idea very much. In terms of composition, I wonder if having the pencil (is it a pencil?) coming down the outer edge of the subject's face, instead of working just underneath the nose, would have strengthened the image. As it is we have the pencil and a very bold shadow cutting right across the drawing and I wonder if that is too much of a distraction? Interested to read what others think.

Agree with Donald on this one, its a good idea but the composition needs some work.

I also agree with all aspects of Donald's post. Add to that that the strong purple tone of the shadow and the strong yellow light on part of the man's hand and wrist are very distracting to my eye. I hope you keep working the concept!

Griddi - I like what you are trying to do very much, but like Donald, I am also looking at the execution and that simply does not quite work for me.

The first thing that strikes me are the strange colour casts in the image; the arm of the artist has almost orange overtones and the shadow that is being cast by the arm is violet, rather than a neutral gray. There is certainly something not right with the saturation and white balance. I wonder if going B&W might not be the easiest fix for this shot, and I expect it would look quite nice as a monochrome.

I also find that the bar / railing across the very top of the image a touch distracting.

As Donald suggests, the heavy shadow of the hand over the artwork is a bit distracting too.

My thank you to you All regarding your comments, which after reading them, I agree to them......

The artist was working very quickly, so perhaps I think it would hard to catch his pencil at a better location, also the photo was taken in a fruit / vegetable market, and the artist was sitting in a thigh corner, actually I shot the image in black / white, so will go back to this, and see how it will look in B/W........

So this is the image that I missed yesterday...I like it ... it is very seldom that I go to the market and find some characters that does this. I guess when I did went to the market I wasn't looking like an artist should. This attitude got to go to the bin soon. But I like the way you caught this man at work...sometimes you have to live with what you got while you are at it...
