    Wine Label from Bodegas Paniza

This wine lives up to the high quality of its front label, which is one of the most beautiful combinations of simplicity and grace I have seen in a long time on a label. In a normal viewing situation, such as at the dinner table, rotating the bottle causes the direct reflections to gradually change position in the most interesting way that merits a video presentation. In this still shot, I positioned the direct reflections so the one at the bottom of the "tree" anchors the graphic image.

The wine is made in Spain by Bodegas Paniza from 40% Garnacha (also called Grenache), 30% Syrah (also called Shiraz) and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

    This image is in color.

    Setup
The background is white foam core lit by a small continuous-light lamp fitted with a diffusion sock to knock down the brightness. That lamp is placed behind the wine bottle. A medium continuous-light lamp lights only the wine label from the left. The label is positioned as close as my 35mm lens will focus.

Very nice, quality texture on the label and I love the "light gradient" on the limited edition text.

Thanks, Matt. The gradient that you mentioned helps display the curvature of the surface. Those two words are made of a shiny material that produces a direct reflection. The brightest areas of that gradient have the most light within the family of angles. The darkest areas have the least light within the family of angles.

Notice that the change in those letters is more extreme than the change in the paper part of the label. That's because the letters produce primarily a direct reflection and the paper produces primarily a diffuse reflection.

Really nice and very well handled Mike, a great 3d feel and look to it. The lighting is as usual superb showing texture and the shine in the letters.

Gorgeous image... The lettering "Artigazo" is simply spellbinding.

    That's lovely, Mike.

You should send it to them and ask then to say if they like how you've displayed their wine. I bet they'll love it.

Thank you, everyone! I'm working on another one made in a completely different style. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it works out.

Another fantastic shot Mike, you have nailed the texture again.

Could it use a clock wise rotation of a degree or two?

I was wondering when someone would mention that. The bottle and label are larger at the top than at the bottom. The image is straight.

I agree and you never know there might be a case or two coming your way - well you could dream.

This capture is more about the "name" than the actual wine, on its own the viewer has no clue of its origin or purpose, it's a stylish label designating a particular time.
