    Dawn or Sunrise

Am away from home. I have found a great spot for a coast photography. Not taken any early morning pictures as I usually finish work in the early hours. Would you suggest aiming for dawn or sunrise?

Sometimes they are the same thing, do you mean dusk?

After re-reading your post, why not aim for both?

All depends on what way the coast is facing, and whether you want the sun to be in your photo, or for your photo to be side lit.
Both produce similar lighting, with dusk you have the option for possible night photography afterwards were as dawn good light only lasts from 1 hour before to 1 hour after sunrise, unless theres storm clouds, then I like to shot in the direction of the sun and wait for light rays to break through the clouds.
