Beautiful, Neville.
I can see what Binnur is saying. My eye goes immediately to the blue sky at the top of the image.
To me, it could be seen as two good landscape compositions, one on top of the other. The beautiful, but bright, sky competes with a very nice, but darker, beach composition.

Hi Neville , the sky looks better in your second edit, but the sea and the shore look brighter than the first. Have you tried darkening only the sky without touching the rest of the image in #1 and how did it look?

Many thanks again to all for comments and advice. I still wasn't quite happy with no.2 myself so, taking comments on board and trying to recall what my eye 'saw' in the cool late afternoon, I went back and re-processed the same raw file to come up with version 3.
