Why I am taking a course on Renaissance painting

This is a still life painted by CLARA PEETERS. One day if I practice very hard and get very very good I hope to use a camera as well as she used a paintbrush. By thye bye if you look very closely you can find where she did a couple of 'miniature selfies'.

Look in the grey tankard. And it is a great painting rather than a nice shot?

My memory rarely works properly and my geographical memory is the worst part. Does her being Flemish put her in your part of the world?

Nowadays it's Belgium. Both where once the Spanish Netherlands. I googled her name, she lived from 1594-1657(?). The Dutch independence war, 80 years, started in 1568. The south stayed catholic and Spanish. Remarkable nice paintings were made that time, as you noticed.
