It almost looks like the head of a Tuna John?
I like the textures on it...whatever it is. Any idea?
Cool find John, I agree with Grahame regarding the Tuna
This looks like a Mussel shell that has been around for a while. The 'eye' of the tuna is an acorn barnacle shell. There are other barnacles to the right. The holes in the front of the shell are probably caused by a sponge etching into the shell.
All these extra animals contribute to the artistic effect of your shot. Well spotted and a well chosen image.
John
Very nice find John...I used to collect them shells and sea weeds from the beach, washed them, then throw them just like that on my vegetable garden...Anyway, I never thought of taking a picture of them...good idea...
Although it is a mussel shell it really looks like creature , nice shot
I like it! Nice spotting and shooting it!
Isn't it interesting what a photographer sees that most casual strollers would miss just because we're looking for a photo opportunity. Nicely spotted, composed and shot.
Actually to tell the truth SWMBO found it with her P&S and this is my version which I have waited several years to publish.[2003]
There is another shot of her on her knees but I have had my hand slapped for taking shots like that
That is my home-made monopod and head ... just aluminium RHS of suitable sizes sliding in each other. Used a golf ball as my pattern for the ball when I was casting aluminium at the Club back around the start of this century.
My husband takes pictures of me doing this too !!!
I agree: we should have it, the "making of a photograph"
It's already underway at - The Photographer being Photographed, Photographing
