    Nope, it's a live shot. I seldom shoot dead bugs unless they are fresh kills and being consumed by another bug or bird. Here is another shot of the same dragonfly taken a couple of minutes later.

    I was actually thinking a frozen one...or one baited with honey so it will stay longer in one place...Good shot! A different angle. How close is your lens to this beauty? Just curious...

    Well, dragonflies are hunters so honey wouldn't do too well in luring them except perhaps by luring other bugs. Nothing much stays frozen in FL and I don't do that to my subjects.

    When you find one hunting you will see that it often returns to the same perch. It's easy to just move a little closer each time they take off to hunt and then stay still again.

    Brian, good shots and yep, slow but sure to get close to favorite perch pays dividends
