Hello and welcome to this website.

I'm going to be in Oporto later this year and your images just make the prospect even more inviting.

I wonder if you think the watermark you have is necessary? It does interfere with our ability to appreciate your skills. Many of us on here do not think it is necessary to include a watermark. The images we post are low resolution adn not going to be of much use to anybody to download. And if anyone did want to go to that trouble, then they're welcome.

    Thanks for your comment, Donald.
You may see a whole gallery on Oporto pictures either at my www.pbase.com/ruilopes or www.ruilopes/smugmug.com.
I agree with you about the the watermarks. The reason why I did start posting it was because two years ago, some of my images were stolen from another forum and sent worlwide through the usual horrible PPS. When I asked the person (or organization) to stop it, I´ve been just ignored...
Anyway, I´ll avoid to watermark future pics post in this forum.
    Regards
    Rui

I am blown away by the colour, light and angles of the second one. Do you mind sharing how you took the shot?

    With pleasure!
    Here´s the recipe:
    Nikon D300, Nikkor 12-24 f/4 @ 14mm, 5 sec. @ f/13, ISO 200 and of course...a sturdy tripod!

    Thanks for commenting.

    Well Rui,
To me these shots (and some more of your night shots I've seen) look very well balanced in terms of exposure. The colours look nice, I like the different colours blue and red/yellow. The compositions look good though I wonder if #2 would be better if the bridge wasn't cut of by the top of the photo.

About the watermarks, if you really want them at your photo's I suggest you put them somewhere in a corner, So they don't spoil your beautiful shots.

    Regards,
    Jeroen

    Olá. Viva !

I brought Rui - my Portuguese compatriot - to Cambridge.

I talked to him on the telephone about coming to CIC and here he is

He is doing nice pictures as he always does. One can see here just two samples of his good work.

Very impressive. Also wonderful (and very relevant to my other great passion - wine) are your Port wine pictures, which I greatly enjoyed.

Through the wine merchant from whom we buy our wines, my friend and I are hoping to get an introduction to Niepoort's port house. I believe the cellars are well worth seeing as they haven't changed very much in many generations.

Indeed, the reason for this holiday/vacation is wine. After a few days in Oporto we are moving to stay in a Quinta in the Douro Valley

Thanks for the suggestion, Jeroen. About the watermarks, as you may understand, the idea is to put it exactly on parts of the image where it would be difficult to clone it out. However, as promised, my future posts here will not be watermarked!

Great idea! You´ll love it. BTW - I invite you to take a look at my PBase gallery called "Douro - Port Wine origin", where you may have an idea of the beautiful places you are going to visit, Donald!

About the watermarks Rui: Have you seen what CS5 makes like hiding cables and doing some crazy things to photos ?
For it, the watermarks are just a piece of cake.

    Look at this video please

    Hi Rui

    Welcome to CiC.

I had a look at your Pbase images. I am impressed. Your night-time shots in particular are excellent, but they are all of a very high quality. May I ask how much time you spend on your photography, because you seem to span a very wide spectrum of subjects.

I'm getting 'server not found' on your Smugmug page.

Edit: I found it. I think your link should read http://ruilopes.smug mug.com/ without the spaces.

    http://ruilopes.smugmug.com/ You have a '/' instead of a '.'
