The bird towards top right was not in the first frame....
my money is on the comorant - can dive deeper and stay down longer to chase fish
I think you are right! But he was also a little apprehensive of the size of the Pelican
yep thats a big bill to get poked by !
I don't think they're actually after a fish. This is a territorial fishing rights battle, biggest bird wins.
I'll bet on the pelican. Nice captures.
More great images Barbara, well done
Alan, this was at the dock and the fishermen were cleaning fish at the table. When they do this they throw what they don't want to the pelicans , seagulls, cormorants and whatever other birds who are sitting and waiting. The pelican almost always wins BUT every once in a while the little birds will sneak in and get away with it.
So this is really the garbage pickup crew!
You're really mastering your camera and that lens.
Nice work.
I like to think of it as the McDonalds of the pelican/bird world, fast food and what's in the open water is home cooking. It's funny to watch a group of them fly over and look down on the scene as if to say "Look the Johnsons are eating fast food again, Marge really should cook more"
Very nice funny shots again, Barbara, that is why I am always on the lookout for your next postings...interesting theme you always come up with...
