You will have to wait a bit longer before the Darters return; although they do go on a bit longer than many species. Well into the autumn in some locations.
However, there will hopefully be a few Damsels appearing soon, if only we can clear away all this rain and gales!
As the days start to lengthen I also begin to get impatient and want to find interesting insects once again.

yep, starting to look closer at the reed stems on sunny days from now on - last year lots of damsels around my pond by beginning of May. So hopefully mid April will be a good starting point this year.

The dragon needs to be careful. There are other predators who can use barbed wire.
The Loggerhead Shrike is a small bird but it's a predator and might well deserve to be classified as a raptor.

Nicely done and processed Mark...comparing them to helicopters seem to be appropriate...
