Re: Work in Progress
I enjoy this. To me this is the romance of the wood shop, the boat space, the smell of oils and varnish, aging wood (sweet), aging canvas (sour) and the close in moist vegetation. That the rendering is suggestive of art in a story book enhances, does not detract from this particular sort of appeal.
I only wish that dang rope at the bottom weren't there. I like rope, but this length of it in this image creates a distraction for me that I just wish weren't there.

Re: Work in Progress
I am with Mark here...so +1 on his comments. I too like the smell of a "project" that has the smell of oil and paint and sour canvas...and tools, I love tools!!! The older style ones, the better...my husband like modern tools and when he uses his, it makes me feel like using a knife and fork in the garden to dig a hole instead of the backhoe. This shot has more enchantment for me than smelling perfume. A productive way to while away your time during the day. Is this your boat? canoe?

Re: Work in Progress
It's not my boat. I have worked on a lot of boat projects in my life but Magic isn't one of them. This is at Historic Spanish Point in Sarasota FL. This boat just happened to be in the boathouse being worked on when my photo club had a field trip there.
It's one of the few things I tried HDR on with a light touch. I also made a monochrome shot out of it and it has been accepted for the Coachella Exhibition.

Re: Work in Progress
I can see why the B&W was accepted for the exhibition. It is excellent in detail and composition.
