    Lunch in Bordeaux

Whilst spending a day in Bordeaux, I tasked myself with capturing the essence of being in a historic and chic French city - here are the results

    1 - ancient and modern

    Lunch in Bordeaux

2 - these lamp-posts could be so chic.........

    Lunch in Bordeaux

3 - evidence of the student population

    Lunch in Bordeaux

    4 - a typical square

    Lunch in Bordeaux

    5 - just for fun

Kaye, love them all, #1 is really nice and captures the 'ancient and modern' very well, and #5 is great - chic and pragmatic sums it up

Nicely done, I like the sky treatment on the first, looks totally overcast yet has just a touch of blue.

What a beautiful place you visited. I enjoy being able to see the cities of the world through the photographs of others. Loved all of the shots, but the first one is special. It's nice to see how they level those uneven tables

Now you know -- look at the last shot she did... really love that last one, Kaye. Made me smile...the other shots are also good. A different take on each shot and they all tell a story that is for sure, especially the rows of bicycles. Still it is the last image for me.

Thank you, Kaye. A lovely set. For me as well, this is the standout image of the set. Brilliantly composed. Superb subject material. Seeing the image in the first place was the important thing. Capturing the photo and making the image were just the icing on the cake.

Thanks all. Indeed a day of sunshine and showers but mainly overcast but in the city this was OK - sometimes the sunshine makes everything so bright in a European city as they seem to have light and polished paths. I had vowed to take no pictures of churches - but the first was just there for the taking, so particular thank you's for your kind comments on this one. There was little editing apart from cloning out a nasty wire going right across the street

Number 1 is great; And as a European I am awfully sorry that you in the UK do not have light and polished paths
