Very interesting specimen, thanks for sharing with us. Nicely captured.
Very nicely done David, #1 is really good and conveys the reality of the insect very well

You really get low down to take these shots. They are excellent. I love the first one on the flower.
Yep! First one looks like a pinned stucked pompom...nice colour and creatively shot whilst #2 is the overview of the whole bug...love them both. Different.
Excellent shots! Whenever I have seen these, I have never been able to get a photo. They are too quick!

Well done; I'm still searching for my first one of the year. I keep checking primroses which are a favourite food for Bee Flies.
As a challenge, see if you can find one dusting its abdomen, to make the eggs roll easily into the nests of Andrena bees which are the host species for bee fly larvae. I have seen it happening once.
Great shots David! I love the blurred wing movement in #1!
Great captures...
Love the wings on No 1 David but No 2 has got the edge on the 'dangerous' look
Cheers, Grahame
Certainly is worth the hassles David. Very sharp images and I do like the movement of its wings in the first shot.
both are very well done, but the first is truly exceptional. Great capture.
Cheers everyone, thanks for all your kind comments, glad you liked them, much appreciated
David...
Very nice images David. I couldn't notice the wings in #1 at first sight and the image looked kind of cute to me
Thank you Binnur, I think these guys look cute too
Cheers Kaye
great pictures David!
Cheers Dedric, glad you liked them bud
Such a unique creature that I've never seen before. As far as your shot of it, I think you nailed it! Thanks for sharing.
