I have never had that problem with my numerous Canon DSLR cameras used over 15 or so years in digital photography... I have used the D60 (not the 60D), 10D, 350D, 30D, 40D and two 7D cameras.
However, I always feel for the elevated ridge located at the bottom-rear of the CF card (when looking at the card with its face up). I have that ridge perpendicular to the ground and to the rear when inserting the card into the camera which I always do with the lens facing away from me. Feeling for this ridge will prevent misalignment, even when shooting in the dark...
